Axsom goes back to back in Monday night Late Model Shootout Series!

Thomas Axsom goes back to back winning his second straight race in the SD Ireland Cancer Research Fund Late Model Shootout Series in the BrettSuggs33 South Boston 125.

Ryan Matthews set quick time on the evening and earned the International Short Track Association fast time award along with 5 bonus points in the season championship.

A seven car invert would move Peyton Howell to the pole alongside eventual race winner Axsom.

Axsom was able to race to the lead early and with it, avoid the rough and tumble and heated tempers the South Boston short track provided behind him. Axsom would score the victory and extend his points lead to 11 points.

Behind Axsom the action was furious for second as Christian Pedersen and Landon Huffman dueled for the second spot. Pedersen was able to slip by Huffman on a late race restart and hold off Huffman to the finish.

Brett Suggs came home fourth while Dylan Bates charged from his eighth starting spot to a 5th place finish.

AJ Rogers earned the hard charger of the race with a 24th to 13th place run. Elliott Carlson won the evening’s b-main.
